NPORS N244 Chipper Course
The NPORS N244 Chipper course is designed to provide operators with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely and efficiently operate an asphalt chipper spreader used in road surfacing and highway maintenance. Suitable for both novice and experienced operators, the course covers safe operating procedures, machine inspections, hazard awareness, chip application techniques, and routine maintenance.
Delegates will learn how to carry out pre-use inspections, identify machine controls and components, receive material safely, configure the machine for spreading operations, maintain the correct chipping ratio, and carry out end-of-shift shutdown procedures in accordance with current health and safety legislation. Training combines classroom theory with practical, hands-on instruction before a final theory and practical assessment.
On successful completion, candidates will achieve the NPORS N244 Chipper Operator certification, demonstrating their competence to safely operate an asphalt chipper spreader within the highways and road construction industry. The standard novice course duration is typically 2 days, depending on the operator's previous experience and ability.
