CPCS A59C Excavator 360° Above 10 Tonnes – Lifting Operations
The CPCS A59C Excavator 360° Above 10 Tonnes – Lifting Operations course is designed for experienced excavator operators who are required to carry out lifting duties safely and competently using a 360° tracked excavator fitted for lifting operations. This course provides the essential knowledge and practical skills required to plan, prepare and execute lifting operations in accordance with current legislation, industry best practice and CPCS standards.
During the course, delegates will develop an understanding of lifting regulations, machine stability, load charts, lifting accessories, lift planning and communication. Training also covers pre-use inspections, selecting the correct lifting equipment, carrying out safe lifting operations, travelling with suspended loads, and understanding the responsibilities of the operator when working as part of a lifting team.

- LOLER and PUWER requirements
- Excavator configuration for lifting duties
- Pre-use inspections and daily maintenance
- Load charts and rated lifting capacities
- Selecting and inspecting lifting accessories
- Lift plans and risk assessments
- Safe lifting techniques and machine stability
- Communication and recognised hand signals
- Travelling with suspended loads
- Safe shutdown procedures
Entry Requirements
To undertake the CPCS A59C Lifting Operations course, delegates must:
- Hold the relevant CPCS Excavator 360° category (A59A or A59B as applicable)
- Hold a valid CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test (Operatives) completed within the last two years
- Have a good understanding of spoken and written English.
Assessment
Delegates are assessed through both:
- CPCS Theory Test
- CPCS Practical Technical Test
Successful candidates will gain the CPCS A59C Lifting Operations endorsement, demonstrating their competence to carry out lifting operations using a 360° excavator above 10 tonnes.
