Course Overview
The A09 Forward Tipping Dumper course is delivered through a combination of
classroom-based learning and practical training.
The A31 Ride on Roller course is delivered through a combination of classroombased learning and practical training.
Course Structure
A09
- • Operate the machine to the relevant standard (depending on level applied
- for)
- • Fit and operate ancillary equipment
- • Site the machine safely and efficiently
- • Know which minor adjustments and routine servicing procedures are
- necessary, and be able to carry them out
- • Prepare the machine for travelling on the public highway
- • Understand the capabilities, purposes and limitations of each machine
- • Apply all necessary safety precautions
- • Understand how diesel engines work and how various parts of the
- machine operate.
A31
- • All pre-start, running checks and shut down procedures
- • Set roller for travel
- • Awareness of on-site hazards
- • Set the roller for compaction duties
- • Place roller in an out of service condition
- • Recognise compacted/uncompacted areas
- • Conditions that may cause instability of the roller
- • Safety procedures when working up to unsupported edges
- • Loading and unloading procedures on/off a transporter
Course Completion
Successful candidates will receive a the appropriate CPCS card
