Ladders & Steps User & Inspection Combined Training

This course combines Safe Use & Inspection of Ladders and Steps into a 1 day course, accredited by The Ladder Association. It covers all aspects of using & inspecting ladders & stepladders safely.

Who is the course for?
Anyone who uses ladders or stepladders in the workplace and needs to be able to inspect ladders and sign them off for use.

Course content includes:

• Overview of legislation & regulations
• Hazards in using ladders & stepladders
• Selection of appropriate work at height equipment
• Determination of when it is appropriate to use ladders or stepladders
• Standards and classifications
• Correct inspection techniques
• Storage, handling and maintenance
• Accurate recording of details of ladders and steps
• Identification of component parts using industry naming conventions
• Inspection of ladders, stepladders and identification of safety critical faults
• Recording of findings in accordance with the statutory requirements (as outlined in PUWER ACOPs 163)
• Recommending of action to be taken if faults are found.

You will have an understanding of:

• Legislation and regulations affecting work at height
• Product standards and classifications for ladders & stepladders
• The relevant legislation and guidance and approved code of practice (ACOPs)
• Governing the inspection of ladders and stepladders
• The difference between pre-use and formal inspections
• Common manufacturing processes used, and their implications for the cost-effectiveness of repairs
• The difference between maintenance and repairs and who is allowed to do them
• The correct methods of disposal of equipment at the end of it’s working life

Completion of the course:
Delegates will take a short written test and complete a practical assessment. Successful delegates will receive the Combined User/Inspection Ladder Association certificate and photo ID card.
